How a swimming course actually works

A swimming course is different from booking a few random lessons. A course follows a sequence of skills, so each lesson builds on the last one and you can see where you are heading. At Swim2u, most programmes are sold as packages of 4 lessons, and learners simply continue package by package until they reach their goal.

  1. Tell us who is learning and what they can do today. Age, current ability and any fear of water decide where the first lesson starts.
  2. Pick a format. 1-to-1, a group of 2, or a group of 3 or more. Private is faster per lesson; groups cost less per person. See private vs group swimming lessons.
  3. Choose a pool and timeslot. Swim2u teaches at public swimming complexes across Singapore and at condominium pools.
  4. Progress through the skill ladder. Water comfort, floating, breathing, kicking, strokes, then distance and safety skills.
  5. Review after each package. Your coach tells you what has been achieved and what the next 4 lessons should focus on.

What does a swimming course cost in Singapore?

Swim2u publishes its rates openly. Group lessons for children start from $140 per person for 4 lessons (group of 3 or more), and 1-to-1 adult lessons are $320 for 4 lessons. The full breakdown, and what changes the price, is on the swimming course fees page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a swimming course cost in Singapore?

It depends on age, lesson length and group size. At Swim2u, a 4-lesson package ranges from $140 per person (kids, group of 3 or more) to $360 (ladies, 1-to-1 with a female instructor). See swimming course fees for the full table.

Can adults learn swimming from zero?

Yes. Many Swim2u students start as adults who have never swum. The first lessons focus on comfort, floating and breathing before any strokes. See the adult swimming course.

How long is each lesson?

At Swim2u, lessons for kids, adults and ladies are 45 minutes. Baby, toddler and special needs lessons are 30 minutes.

Is private swimming better than group swimming?

Private lessons usually move faster because every minute is spent on one learner. Group lessons cost less and suit children who are motivated by peers. Compare them in private vs group swimming lessons.

Can I learn swimming if I am afraid of water?

Yes, but start with confidence, not strokes. A water confidence course works on breathing, floating and staying calm before technique.
